A Champion of the Book Takes to the iPad

  • New York Times: Do physical books still have their uses, their appeal?
  • Gass: I just bought 100 books at a library sale. I prefer used books to new — you know where they’ve been. I want a lot of books around, just in case. Or just because. I live in a library.
  • NYT: All these changes in the time-bound act of reading: are we winning or losing here?
  • Gass: By and large, the horse has it better than it did a century ago. Sometimes it’s good that things are gone and bad at the same time.
